Sorry for the recent problems with the website. A Chinese rental car agency obtained a favorable court ruling regarding their “ownership” of “DVAE”, making outlandish claims of “confused customers” and then used that court ruling to petition the IANA to revoke our ownership of DVAE.ORG and assign that name to them. We can fight it, and would likely win, but the costs of an international legal challenge would top $50,000. I registered a new (but similar) web address: DVAE.US, which is not available in any country other than the United States.
All the preexisting content was safe, and has been restored at the new address. Our website was NOT hacked. No viruses or malware were ever present on our website. They simply used dubious legal maneuvering in China to steal what was rightfully ours–our name of DVAE.ORG, and sadly the legal system in China doesn’t recognize foreign intellectual property rights. After all, they are still a Communist country, and do not believe in private individuals’ rights to own property, claiming that “the People” own everything.
The financial cost to me was $8.00 to register the new website name and about 10 hours of my time to move everything over to dvae.us and update the SQL database.
In other news, the recording of our concert was a success this time, and I’m editing it to extract the songs. It should be ready and on the new website (DVAE.US) soon.
Could you add your upcoming concert plans on the website? Any other way to get your schedule? I would be interested in singing with the group (baritone-bass) but I think your rehearsals are on Thursday evenings which are the same as my church choir rehearsals. Any other rehearsal times or maybe partial rehearsals? By the way, I have written several choral anthems in the last few years (somewhat traditional-sounding); any interest in DVAE trying some of them? Moved to the Dubois area about 2 years ago.
